I was just creating the profile for my next potential RoE character, a Wyvern Rider, and I was wondering if her mount could be a wyvern with feathered wings?

You mean a pegasus?

Er, well, I'm guessing it's really a flavor thing, so I, personally wouldn't tell you no. However, that's like canon-breaking heresy or something, so don't take me on my word for it. I'd stick around and wait for a more senior mod to tell you off.

To tell me off, lol. Thanks for the input and I probably will wait, just a weird idea I got in my head that I kind of liked.

Not that my opinion matters, but aren't Wyverns reptiles? Reptiles don't have feathers, they have scales. Unless some kind of weird magical cross-breeding happened.

Never deny the effective use or value of your opinion. It's an extension of your own perspective. To deny your perspective is to deny free thought.

Ahem...and you brought up a strong point, one I sadly did not think of still. Still, I may wait around a bit or a mod to snipe me in the knee

*snipes from the Skylessia dimension*

I know Satori's gonna say No.

There's really no functional or evolutionary basis for something that can fly without feather, to have feathers.

I'm sure you could glue some on or strap a headdress to a wyvern if you wanted, though.

Fair enough. I only wanted the wings to be feathered, anyway. Figured I may as well ask

Pegasaus= Has feathers. If it needs feathers, Pegasaus is the way to go.

Of course, this being fantasy, it is assumed that the world was created, and thus:

1: Evolution thus is largely irrelevant, as whatever the creator wants on the world can be there

2: If the creator wants a feathered Wyvern because he thinks is would be cool, he can

3: The mods are the effective stand-ins for the creator, and thus also shoot down what they don't want. So if a creator wants to abide by the rules of evolution (which are assumed to not apply) (s)he is perfectly capable of doing that.

Bravo.

I don't know whether I should be amused or insulted that you're painting me as the God of Elibe by your logic, or that you're contesting my decision on the bounds of "I could if I wanted to".

Even if we go on the assumption that evolution has absolutely no basis in Elibe, there is still no functional need for a wyvern that can already fly without feathers to have them. And if we were going to assume that a creator god would plop things down on Elibe simply because they seemed cool, there would be a lot more bizarre, unnecessary creations than wyverns with feathers. As it happens, there are not.

Might not be exactly what you envision, but some reptiles can have hair so, while odd perhaps, it's possible that there could be wyvern with longer, more fur-like hairs. Could be an adaptation for cooler climates. Don't know or care, but I'd be more likely to call out a mod for rejecting fur on a wyvern than feathers if they used evolution alone as the basis for the rejection, even if feathers could technically be possible as well, given how evolution actually works.

I wasn't really arguing either way there, I was just playing with semi-circular logic whilst having a semi-troll moment for the lulz. Great, now my warn meter goes up...
