FEPlanet Forums _ Announcements and Updates _ Item forge open

Posted by: CAR = BIDOOF May 29 2009, 12:16 AM

Item forging is now up!

http://feto.feplanet.net/items/forge

Any questions can be posted here.

Numbers may change in the future, I'm not sure if I'm 100% satisfied with them or not.

Posted by: Fangy May 29 2009, 12:22 AM

Magic tomes plus Sharpened make me giggle.

Posted by: Misha May 29 2009, 12:28 AM

Pretty sure the 1/5/8 numbers need to be more like 1/3/5, but it's worth testing.

Posted by: Bubb May 29 2009, 12:35 AM

I just forged a couple weapons, then I went to my item storage page and got this:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ';' in /home/feplanet/public_html/feto/files/sources/char.php on line 550

Edit: and this also fixed itself now, sorry if I'm posting stupid/useless bugs. (forging is awesome BTW) happy.gif

Heh, should be very interesting indeed!

Posted by: Hellkaiser The Chaos Lord May 29 2009, 03:26 AM

so the items have to be in storage?

Posted by: Biske May 29 2009, 03:41 AM

Heavy Bronzes become infinite use Irons if you disregard the crit penalty (which is pretty acceptable for at least the first 20 levels).
Maybe interesting to save some gold while leveling new guys.

Posted by: Axel Almer May 29 2009, 06:22 AM

Simply Divine, I love the item forge system at the moment.

We saw this, but went with it anyways.
For a heavy bronze/regular bronze, you need 375 gold, as opposed to bronze/iron which is 300.

tl, dr: infinite use no-crit iron isn't game breaking.

^_^.gif Thanks a ton for finishing the forge, the options are nice and I don't have to worry about someone with XXXXXXXXXX Gold beating me with a lvl 1 who has a custom weapon.

Im just wondering why slim doesn't give anything towards crits, Slim being my favorite first word in the games weapons, I feel a lil upset/confused. I do like all of the options, trade off selection, but im wondering if your considering changing any of the names.

A few that seem a little off are:

Gambler, Sharp has the high crit with the lowered Acc/Mt so I would think that if your a gambler you'd put all your money on that crit.

Sharp, well sharp feels kinda off when your sharper weapon doesn't cut as well as the normal, unless you get lucky. I can understand thinning and making it different affecting your accuracy but i was confused at the other parts of it.

Sorry, but i gotta say that im feeling these 2 are backwards grin.gif. Besides that I love all the item changes.

One question about this tho, if I make a Bandage Heavy do i have a chance that my heal will miss? This scares me enough to not change them even tho the 2 hp extra would help ^_^.gif.

Once more Thx for the Forge

That's just the way the world works.

However, if you're a gambler, you'd also take the highest risk (the lowest hit).

Staffs can't be forged.

I love heavy Bronzes... But everything is so expensive. @_@

Posted by: CAR = BIDOOF May 29 2009, 11:56 AM

It's all 1.5* the cost of the item to forge it. Less for items that have already been used.

You've done like 10 gauntlets this week. how are you not rich enough to have one of everything?

Posted by: Nolan Kryptonite May 29 2009, 12:05 PM

I'm a saver. :P And yeah... I don't think most of these are really worth paying 2.5x (total)... >_>

Sharp Mithril Sword:
11 Mt 2 Wt 79 Hit 29 Crit
Killing Edge:
9 Mt 1 Wt 84 Hit 33 Crit

I like that one though... >_> My Critmasters can use them instead of waiting for Killers that will never happen. XD

forging would be cooler if it was like forging in FE10 and 11. that's just my opinion.

Posted by: CAR = BIDOOF May 29 2009, 03:48 PM

You mean, allowing Killing Edges with 150% crit and 25 MT? No thanks. dry.gif

Posted by: Nolan Kryptonite May 29 2009, 08:10 PM

There's a cap on those... XD +50% Crit and +10 Mt, IIRC, and having both makes it pretty expensive. In FE10, it's 15% Crit but dunno about Mt.

Either way, to further the too expensive point, if you say, forged a Mithril with Heavy (+2 Mt, -5 Hit, -8 Crit), you'd get a weapon that resembles a Great one in Wt, Mt, Hit, but with inferior Crit. And about cost? It's also more expensive. >_>; More expensive than the 5 uses is worth. (something like 2500 to 1400)

Maybe make each type of forge cost different amounts?

Posted by: MSB May 29 2009, 08:13 PM

Can we pay 300 or so extra gold to rename the weapon?

In unpromotes, you can't use weapons stronger than mithrils, so while it may be a let down in promoted, it's actually worthwhile in unpromotes.

If you allowed people to increase stats at will, there would be complaints in the bugs/suggestions thread

'ZOMG I GET OWNED BY RICH PEOPLE WHO HAVE ALL THE GOOD WEAPONS!'
...Which is something we've been trying to avoid on this site since it started. Never want to reward the rich by making it so they have an advantage over the poor more than the skill they've gained from playing and items they've gotten from chests.

I must agree. Default weapons are not personalized for the unit using them. This is supposed to make weapons automatically be personal.

Posted by: Lamp May 30 2009, 05:32 PM

I think I sound stupid saying this (as always) I've not tried it out yet, but can you let the user give a name to the weapon? as in if applied to Lord can be named (if named, can't be applied to other unit) or an item that let's you name forged weapons oh.gif
I was really looking forward to making a "Hells Rolling" Dark spell drool.gif
tho Lord applied doesn't sound good to me....pfftt, point is, ┐can you add a custom name option/item for forged items? (Lord or not)

to remember, you must forget something...but ┐how will you remember something you forgot? confused.gif

^This.

Anyhow...thanks for the forge. Now I don't need to worry about not getting any killing edges.

Posted by: MSB May 30 2009, 05:53 PM

I will name a few weapons these.

AXE
Liberty
Death
Rexbook
Lightspeed
StickTosser
Double Katti

My FE11 Online Brave(and Longbow + Thoron) names. XD

Posted by: Lamp May 30 2009, 06:01 PM

YES that, I'd like that, can do?
my tomes/weapons'll be based on MMBN attacks grin.gif just sayin o3o

Posted by: CAR = BIDOOF May 30 2009, 08:29 PM

There won't be any weapon naming any time soon, sorry guys.

Maybe you should pay .01 $ for every byte it takes up and in groups of ~5$. bytez are cheaper than that but weapons currently take up like 24 bytes min(depends on how SaS did his items). It's a waste to have weapons cost another 8*characters. It all adds up, really.

Then there is the confusion factors.

It's a lot of code work for a strictly aesthetic change when there are things with tangible need that should be done beforehand.

Posted by: CAR = BIDOOF May 31 2009, 11:20 PM

One note on forging: starting now, a forged weapon's rank will increase by 1.

Posted by: Nolan Kryptonite May 31 2009, 11:22 PM

I guess there goes giving unpromoted units access to "Great"s*... >_>;

*Mithril forged Heavy

Basically, yup.

Hm, I'm sensing some poor newb is going to make heavy bronzes for their entire squad, and suddenly they have no weapons irritated.gif

Hell, it already pseudo-happened to me, as a unit I had forged all their weapons for suddenly ended up unarmed irritated.gif

Posted by: CAR = BIDOOF Jun 2 2009, 12:28 PM

It does say on the forge page that it happens. dry.gif

Posted by: The Pasta King Jun 2 2009, 05:07 PM

Another reason to have no naming: You can't really personalize a weapon enough with modifications to make it worthy of a unique name in the first place. We'd end up with several weapons with different names, yet identical stats. That definitely wouldn't be cool.

Posted by: Knightmare Jun 3 2009, 04:30 PM

A random thought: Shouldn't the exchange rate for MT/HIT/CRIT be 1/4/6 instead of 1/5/8? Right now, a Heavy sword of any kind is inferior to a normal axe of the same kind. At a 1/4/6 exchange rate, all weapon types are equal in the forge, as a Heavy sword is the same as a normal axe.

Posted by: CAR = BIDOOF Jun 3 2009, 05:14 PM

Well, the numbers were originally chosen so that a Heavy is weaker than the regular of the next rank up... though, with the +1 rank from forge, I guess that isn't really all that much of a problem now. I guess it's something worth considering.

Posted by: Knightmare Jun 3 2009, 06:53 PM

Yeah, I thought that was the case too... although I do prefer sharp stuff to be +16 crit...

Perhaps have people that forged before this was introduced get their weapons deforged?
Or...Master Deforger or sumfin'. cackle.gif

Posted by: Knightmare Jun 5 2009, 06:28 PM

Why would we want a deforger if we can just buy another one of the weapons from the shop?

Remember, you can only forge shop items. Unless I'm delusional and the rules have changed.

Posted by: Roy Mustang Jun 5 2009, 08:30 PM

I wasn't really serious with the deforger thing anyways.
Though it might be annoying for people who forged something and a day after couldn't have their character use it.
But since that's probably a minor problem...the solution is to DWI. You see what I did here?

Posted by: CAR = BIDOOF Jun 5 2009, 10:17 PM

Well, really... most shop items aren't that expensive, so unless the item were, like, 50 gold, there'd be really no point to it. dry.gif

cat.gif He kinda had a point, but he kinda didn't. This brings up a wonder idea for a debuffing staff < <. The Deforger, removes X stats from the weapon in hand for X turns.

Oh yeah, and because i was paying attention to this thread to some degree. I forged stuff the day the forge opened, and the only reason it didn't destroy my team is because on top of the forging, which was on the bronze items, I bought them iron stuff. V_V My poor poor Archer/Mystic combo got all pooped out with there loss of use in the lower weapons. (I was using them before the forging added the +1 rank). T-T If only there was a way to remove the forge buff temporarily and let me use them just alil longer.

Posted by: Roy Mustang Jun 16 2009, 03:48 PM

That was my point, but since this affected only the unrich players people couldn't care less.
