If you ever wanted to know your chances of winning a near-stalemate situation but you either don't know how or you just wanna waste some time feeling smart, then whip out your calculator (or open up Calculator from your start menu) and grab a piece of paper (or open up Notepad from your start menu) and submerse yourself in the world of the almighty Percentages!


I was watching a battle between Mr. Bobo and Shiori and they kind of went into a stalemate so I decided to check Shiori's chances of winning and losing if she attacked, and I must say "Why are they still in stalemate?"

Now, this is basically going to be a large


Now, assuming that Terrain Defense is applied like this: Total Damage Done - Terrain Defense = True Damage
Terrain Evasion is applied like this: Chance of Hitting - Terrain Evasion = True Evasion

Then hopefully this should be quite accurate. Note: Shizuka has 22 HP and Kelly has 12.

ATTACK 1 = 13/58%;  12/78% Shizuka First

58% chance of hitting and winning;
32.76% chance of missing and being hit~ goto A1
9.24% chance of missing and being missed~ goto A2

Assuming Shiori attacks first with Shizuka and she can do 13 damage and has a 58% chance of hitting (Kelly in on a forest), and from there assuming we roll a 42 or less hit dice than after that Bobo has a 78% chance of doing around 54% damage to Shizuka making Shiori's predicament even worse. From here the calculations get a little messy, but bear with it and maybe you will learn something. (IMG:style_emoticons/blue/^_^.gif)

Now, parts A1 and A2 are dependent on whether Kelly/Bobo hits on the counter.

ATTACK 2 = 12/93%;  13/58% Kelly First

A1: 30.4668% chance of hitting and losing;
1.330056% chance of missing and being hit;
0.963144% chance of missing and being missed~
A2 :8.5932% chance of hitting~
4.984056% chance of hitting and being hit;
3.609144% chance of hitting and being missed~
0.6468% chance of missing~
0.375144% chance of missing and being hit;
0.271656% chance of missing and being missed~

And when you add all this together, Shiori has/had:

58% chance of OHKO'ing,
30.4668% chance of getting killed by the first counter,
1.330056% chance of winning after being countered (and via a counter),
0.963144% chance of being countered but getting another turn,
4.984056% chance of winning after being hit (and via a counter),
3.609144% chance of being hit but getting another turn,
0.35144% chance of pulling off a Flawless Victory, only after you omit her first miss,
0.271656% chance of everyone missing. ( (IMG:style_emoticons/blue/O_o.gif) )

Now, this is assuming that Shiori attacks first, and Bobo doesn't move off his Forest, of course Bobo COULD move to the fort and throw an axe.


Basically, assuming you actually read all that (lol) that even though it looked like situation where the attacker would be the loser of the battle, the whole outcome was balanced and the players didn't know the chances so they were afraid of attacking, messing up big time, and losing.


Each probability is based partially on the probability of the events before it, for example, if someone has a 20% chance of picking up a cup of water and then a 1% chance of accidentally dropping the cup (yeah I know, really really simple, there would be lots of other variables in this) than there is actually a 0.2% chance of dropping the cup from before he even picked up the cup. (Did I mention I am a sucky teacher?) You can basically take the original chance of prior events, divide the chance by the chance of the next event, and so on until you reach the desired outcome, which will have a rather small percent chance of happening, but for each chance encounter the chances are absolute, he still has a 1% chance of dropping the cup but only if he picks up the cup at the 20% chance.

Hey, I've noticed that if you have the scroll bar (That one over there >>>) close enough to the character list and you drag your mouse from a character over the scroll bar and then move your mouse up or down and then move back over another character the original character's window will still be open, it's kinda hard to explain but if you try it yourself you should understand. (IMG:style_emoticons/blue/shift.gif)

Now before you (IMG:style_emoticons/blue/facepalm.gif) and then (IMG:style_emoticons/blue/laughing.gif) and then (IMG:style_emoticons/blue/Point.gif) .

Think about it, we have Armor Killers which with help of Mages renders Generals nearly cannon fodder, if we had heavy Mage Killer weapons we could possibly balance out the ratio of Magic Units compared to Physical Units, plus Druids and such wouldn't be so broken compared to the not so almighty Generals.

Just an idea I thought up and decided to throw out here. Possibly to balance out this General debate in a new way? (IMG:style_emoticons/blue/cackle.gif)

I mean, I and Hikomi and His Highness, Lord Mr. Bobo himself have been sitting in this battle waiting for a guy who isn't ready, we are asking him to ready up and he isn't saying anything...

Can we add a feature to Kick someone from the battle prior to the battle starting? (IMG:style_emoticons/blue/shift.gif) It would make us not have to make a new battle again.
