Images will go here when the previous images-per-post is maxed out... Oh wait, I don't have to say that, do I?

Kidding aside, mild note. Are we still expecting to see Power/Skill/Speed builds at the moment, or are people experimenting?

I'm experimenting, but those are still very important, as I see it tho.

I'm just remembering the dominant offensive builds of the testing tourney seemed to be Power/Skill/Luck, as certain individuals loved their Wrath/Insight, particularly with Fortune-boosted Insight (IMG:style_emoticons/blue/srsfacts.gif)

I think both will ultimately be viable, and both will end up countering each other to an extent.

Pursuiters will love glassy low-SPD offence builds, and then Insighters will be smacking low-LCK Pursuiters for massive damage with their S-rank weapons, at high accuracy rates.

But if everyone has those skills, no one's activating them... :P

But now... I suddenly regret my high Def/Res units. >_>

Are Counter/Aurora limited in range by the weapon the defender is using/close encounters only/will activate at any range?

Counter and aurora will activate at any range as long as the counterer/auroraer is actually hit by the offending attack.

example: A mage uses a bolting at range 5 on a mystic with Aurora. If the bolting hits, the mystic's aurora will activate and the mage will take damage.

If the bolting misses, however, the aurora won't even check.

Wonderful. Thank you for the quick reply.

About skills...

I have a General Lord. He will have everything but RES and LCK close to its cap at 20/20.

If he has Counter and attacks a 30 SPD SM(assuming 20/20...) with Pursuit, will the SM take damage 3 times?

Also, is Nihnl/Nihil/Nhinl/whatever a good idea for a 70 HP(at 20/20) General Lord?

Yes, the swordmaster would, but keep in mind that there'd be reduced damage due to Pursuit as well.

Nihil is a great idea for 70 HP.

Sorry if it was already finalized somewhere else, but so far the only exact mathematical equation on how the damage of Counter/Aurora is calculated that I found was from this thread from almost 3 month ago: http://forums.feplanet.net/index.php?showtopic=36976
QUOTE
Counter - This skill makes you counter physical attacks for a portion of the damage they deal. After your opponent lands a physical attack, you'll immediate counter-attack using the opponent's attack power, targeting their defence, for 70 + (DEF * 2.5) accuracy (minus the opponent's avoid). This attack cannot critical, does not have any effective bonuses, will not receive S-rank bonuses, or class bonuses to hit, or anything else that would affect the outcome. It also, after applying the target's defence, is reduced in power by 40%. Whether or not you have to be able to counter-attack for this to activate, I'm not sure yet. (I'll provide an example of how this functions later on)

Is this still the actual equation, or was it modified? If so, what is the new equation?

It's actually: 80 + DEF or RES * 2.5 for the accuracy (depending on whether it's Counter or Aurora), targets the target's (DEF + RES)/2, as opposed to just DEF, or just RES. Otherwise, it functions exactly the same as mentioned in that thread.

EDIT: Oh, and you don't have to be able to counter-attack for it to activate, but you do have to be hit. Meaning, an unpromoted staff user could use it, and it'd also activate if you're out of range to attack (long bow, siege tome, etc is targeting you, or whatever).

For example:
-Melee Attacker (active Counter)= 8 MT weapon 19 POW 20 DEF 12 RES
-Melee Defender (active Pursuit)= 10 MT weapon 22 POW 25 DEF 15 RES 70 Avoid

1) Attacker attacks and makes a crit hit, gives Defender 12 (19 + 8*2.25 - 25) damage.
2) Defender counter attacks first time with Pursuit, gives Attacker 9 [(10 + 22 - 20)*.75] damage.
3) Attacker's Counter skill activates, gives Defender 12 [10 + 22 - (25+15)/2] damage at 60 (80 + 20*2.5 - 70) accuracy.
4) Defender counter attacks the second time with Pursuit, gives Attacker 9 damage again.
5) Attacker's Counter skill activates again, gives Defender another 12 damage at 60 accuracy.

One thing I'm not certain is how Pursuit has effect on the ATK used to calculate Counter/Aurora.
Does it count as opponent having less ATK (via the .75 modifier), thus you counter less?

That's all correct, with one small exception - the defender's DEF score is too high for counter to activate, you'd need, say, 25 on the attacker, and 20 on the defender, for example.

And the counter damage would be further multiplied by *0.75 in the case of Pursuit. Or, if they had Impale instead of Pursuit, multiplied by *1.3.
