What a pain.

Rayner couldn't help but curious why these people, from Rorsch to this girl, so wanted him to speak in Darius's stead. She could just ask her man. Now, every eye was staring at him once their commander burdened him by a certain question. However, it seemed what Rorsch said was true, that the falcon had been gathering his information after that incident. He did not remember talking to this woman before, and all he did was slashing her fire ball in half to prevent loss. Seeing how hateful she was toward Darius, he hoped that didn't upset her much.

"Frankly it's what you said just now," The male red swordsman replied to the red commander. His eyes gazed into hers without fear. "you already know why we were here, now we want to see if Black Falcon is professional enough to take the job."

Rayner rubbed his neck a little before he continued.

"If you are the brain of this army, and that you are aware of the pros and cons on this quest, correct?" He paused a little, ignoring all the whispering from the crowd. "If so, let's cut to conclusion, we have no time to waste."

"Just relax, you've already done well." The bodyguard replied to his employer quietly. He gazed back to the falcon who eyed Bellemere that they had to turn away with fear. He turned to the other side to make sure, and found that the man already behaved without seeing his killer glare yet.

Rayner dodged the eye contact once Bellemere looked into his eyes, blinking optimistically. He admitted that what the girl just said to Darius already included whatever he was going to say. It showed him that she was more matured than he thought she was, just a little bit.

When he listened to the knight's tale, the red swordsman saw a vision of his own past where he stood alone over a burning field of corpses. Although he was the victor of that encounter, the Eckesachs horridly lost the war later on against the new Bern and Etruria. That aside, most of the citizen at the execution site, whom he thought he was fighting to protect their future, celebrated with joy when his leader's head fell. Branding his band and some others 'Rogue Knights', all of them accepted the new ruler happily without looking back. Rayenr realized that the people needed Eckesachs no more, as well as the Red Slasher, and exiled himself.

Unlike Darius who faced his enemy head on, he ran away like dogs from the reality. Bellmere's word also struck him badly inside, as it reminded him he was shouldering the great sin of thousands lives he took away. Keeping this guilty feeling inside, he nodded to the knight, and just that.

Moreover, the swordsman examined the falcons who rode around, wondering how many of them believed Darius's story. They didn't seem to interrupt him when he insulted their boss, Kinkaid, as though they wanted to hear of his story. He believed that these falcons were new member, like Rosch, and that they knew nothing about the event. They only got the vague idea of what happened. It told him that their bond was no so strong, just like other mercenary guilds.

Rayner did not pay much attention to the conversation about surrendering weapons or not, as they had no choice from the start. He was not afraid about fighting these men without his sword, as he was quite confident he could snatch one from them if he needed to. Someone said to him before that a weaponless man needed to be three times stronger to win against an armed enemy, and Rayner knew he was at that level compared to most of the fang. It was not his underestimation, but the fact.

The red swordsman, without sword, sat Bellemere on the saddle before he hopped on as well. He had the woman leaning back to him just for her to be comfortable. He kept her healing staff at the back of the saddle, and that was all to get ready.

He looked at Darius and the dead steed, thinking that someone will need to give him a ride. That man and the other knight together might be too heavy for the horse, so he thought it will be the archer lady. He then turned to the night sky in a hope that the other army was still surviving.

Rayner listened to the conversation carefully. Although there was another person who will make decision in this, it seemed that Darius had succeeded in persuading Rorsch. Talking about the lady captain, the redhead recalled that he saw one during last battle with the fangs. She was a magician, probably a fire mage, if his memory served him right. He wondered if it was the same one. That aside, a new name came out from Darius's mouth, Kincaid, that he just memorized in case they met.

The group was then asked to remove their weapon. As much as he hated to, it was a reasonable request that they needed to follow in order to get help. There was no choice. The swordsman removed both swords from his sash, and surrendered them to the mercenary who approached to collect. Before releasing his hand from the chained one, he warned.

"This one, don't be clumsy and unsheath it."

There were two reasons that he sealed this crimson sword. The first was to stop his record of murdering human, frankly speaking. The second, however, was to not let it go berserk when unsheathed by strangers. The wind spirit imbued in this sword was no ordinary, it was wild. It had a habit of injuring anyone who was not its master. The red swordsman just got some wind slash when he first inherited it from his instructor, and that was when he did with caution. There were people who lost their fingers or even their eyes.

Rayner walked over Bellemere who collapsed after healing the archer, who seemed to be fair now instead. It was a well-done job. He knelt down near and carried her up from the rocky ground. He pinched her healing staff with his armpit and began walking slowly. He whispered "Seems we're moving again, just rest."

"Help her, Darius...and I will handle this." Rayner whispered at Bellemere so that she can heal the archer. He glanced at Fley a little to make sure he was ready to guard her if these mercenaries were to attack the group. Once everything was checked, he turned to the black paladin.

So far, he listened to everything the Falcon paladin said to him, but refrained from replying as it man anger him unnecessarily. He was thinking something along the line 'Sorry, who might you be again?' for a reply, but kept it hidden for the sake of the situation. At least, it was good to know the fire didn't kill him back then. Him sparing this man's life would be vain if he died.

"An unexpected chivalry from a mercenary, I'm impressed." The swordsman slowly sheathed back his sword as he replied, carefully. He turned to the armored Darius and nodded before continuing a speech with the black knight. "Your old friend here has an appealing offer to make with you Falcons, why don't you listen to him?"

Opening his hand at Darius, whom he believe would speak the business better than himself. He already knew the man's distaste to Darius, and hoped he will overlook it for now.

"Our rematch will have to wait, unless we do that now to decide if you will cooperate." Rayner patted the scabbard as he said, his eagle eyes told the man he wouldn't lose even if he was exhausted. It was a gamble.

If the result came to worst, he wondered if he should bring up the 'life saver' topic to persuade this man. Though he really did not want it to come to that, since he spared lives only to compensate the ones he took. Asking something in return would be wrong to his path of conscience.

After a while of standing silently, Nerine was approached by a young lady. She dressed like a dancer of sort, though the bouncer did not think this girl was going to be the main show of the knight, until the fact was revealed. It was a surprise, really. Looking at this girl, she was probably a little younger and appeared to be too innocent to be working for Blake. To put it simply, she was nothing like those service girls Blake talked to earlier. However, since it was not her place to judge the girl's ability to dance, she ignored her opinion and tried to help.

Just before Nerine gave a reply, they were interrupted by another woman who brought this girl a costume.

"So, you aren't a regular dancer, no wonder you don't look like other performers here." Nerine spoke her mind to the girl. It was good to know that not every girl here was a scandal. Now she had to wait and see her dance on the stage, in a hope that it would entertain her. It might be a good idea to encourage her, too. "Good luck with the show, then. I'll be watching."

Nerine stayed at the same position she had been standing, carrying on her duty as a bouncer, even when she saw the fire mage leaving the dance room with anger. It was just her guess but she couldn't think otherwise. She wondered what agitated the always calm man to this level for her really not expected such expression on the man's face. He just talked to his girls a few words before he disappeared, but not to her. Therefore, since she she did not get any newer order, the knight remained calm.

She began to think that something was happening, and she hoped everything will be fine at the end of the day.

Right, no way they'll just welcome us friendlily. Thought Rayner as he halted his steed after Darius's fall. Seeing that the other armored man was already rushing to him, the swordsman focused on keeping the healer safe. He hopped off quickly and took her down from the horse as the enemies rushing close. He grabbed the sword hilt while looking behind from the corner of his eye, and turned around to parry the coming weapon.

It was an axe, a medium-sized steel axe to be more specific, his sword stopped it without much effort. However, he saw that another bandit came too close to Bellemere. He released his blocking to allow the full swing of the axe, and then stepped aside to dodge it while slashing the second bandit who had his sword pointed at his employer. It didn't his him badly but that did stop him from harming the girl.

The first bandit roared in disbelieve of his fail attempt in stopping the red swordsman, and charged again. The sword bandit also changed his focus to Rayner instead of Bellemere, and assisted his friend.

This time, Rayner did not wait for them to come. He also rushed toward the running axeman and forced him to strike before he wanted to. As though he was a ghost, Rayner dodged the cleave as much as he needed and disappeared from the bandit's sight. From the blind spot, he hit the axeman at his neck, from the back. Although his sword didn't kill the man, he should be unconscious for some good hours.

At surprise of his friend's falling, the second bandit thrust Rayner with his sword. He did not think it will kill the enemy, but he hoped it would stop this scary swordsman from attacking him. He figured he was not ready as this guy just easily ruined the teamwork of his friend and himself. Though he was unfortunate as Rayner ignored his attack, letting it to draw some blood from his stomach, aiming for his following attack with a different target. As expected, the hesitant blade could not cut so deep, the red swordsman forgot a minor pain and landed a strike at the bandit's face, knocking him down.

He wondered how his sword managed something like that, though he wouldn't complain as long as it can keep him away from the path of murderer. There were other enemies. Even if Darius and Fley were alright on their own, he wasn't sure with the female archer. He searched for her while covering his wound, it still needed healing even if it wasn't deadly.

(OOC: Two bandits down.)

Even after when Blake did to scare the crowd, a little more ruckus was not ceased to happen. There seemed to be some issue happened among those service girls that one of them stormed away to the employer's direction. Nerine wondered just by little who the woman was, but paid no mind to it in the end as she resumed her task as a bouncer. She noticed that some guest began to be impatient to see the show.

Whatever it was, it better start soon or she will have to break some guests' bones in order to stop them from entering the unprepared stage.
